If Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC is to be determined by Facebook, the winner will most likely be…

(Disclaimer: I freelance for both Marriage Central and National Family Council for their social media outreach. Both are supported/under Ministry of Community, Youth and Sports. The conclusion of the post here is based on what can be found on Facebook using their search engine.)

The recent walkabout by the opposition parties, Singapore People's Party and Reform Party, in the Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC has raised eyebrows that the two main form an alliance to take on the ruling party from the People Action’s Party.

I thought it would be interesting to check and share of their activities on Facebook.

There are other forms of social networking sites out there, but I am narrowing it down to Facebook as it seems to be popular with many of my clients.

I will doing a comparison with Singapore People's Party’s Mr Chiam See Tong, Reform Party’s Kenneth Jeyaretnam, People’s Action Party Mdm Josephine Teo and Mr Zainudin Nordin as all four have been mentioned recently in the press.

So if Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC is to be determined by Facebook, the winner will most likely be..

Not Singapore People's Party’s Mr Chiam See Tong.

Based on Facebook search, there is a profile and a fanpage of Mr Chiam See Tong. Both, however, seem not to be the official profile and fanpage set up by Mr Chiam as both leads to a blogspot site set up with a vendetta against Mr Chiam.

Other than that, there don’t seem to be any other results on Mr Chiam.

(Suggestion: SDP should get someone to start creating the official profile for Mr Chiam soon if they would to reach out to voters through Facebook.)

Based on the number of friends alone, Mdm Josephine Teo would be third from bottom with 891 friends. Her last active post was in March 4, 2010, where she shared an article via notes and her wall is open for all to see.

(Suggestion: Mdm Josephine Teo should get a vanity url for her profile to make it easier for her fans/friends to search for her on Facebook. Maybe it would be best to set up a fan page instead to separate personal and official.)

Reform Party’s Mr Kenneth Jeyaretnam will come in second with 1,949 friends. However, his wall is closed and only opened to friends so I can’t comment much. He has a vanity URL so that’s a plus point and he easy to search via Facebook.

(Suggestion: A Fan Page would be great to separate personal and official postings.)

The winner of Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC is Mr Zainudin Nordin as he has a personal page with 4,155 friends and a fan page of 2,487 fans.

Both the personal page and fan page are quite active with status updates and photo postings.

(Suggestion: Not much to suggest as Mr Zainudin Nordin has separated the personal and official. Maybe he might want to create a vanity url for the fanpage as he is way above the 25 fans mark.)

One glaring error in your piece! Mr Chiam does not belong to the SDP.

Thanks for highlighting.

Updated.

Somehow Mr Chaim being in SDP still stuck in my mind though he left like 1996.

Great observations!

I was only looking at numbers and did not go into detail into where the friends came for.

Saying that, because Mr Zainudin Nordin has set up a fan page and profile proper, his fans, even if they came from the unions, have something to be a fan or friend of. Mr Zainudin has also responded to updates too.

As such, shouldn't Mr Chiam or somebody set up a proper profile or fan page that real fans can support?

Will mrbrown's post on Mr Tan Kin Lian's thermometer app "misadventure" promote technology ageism?

I am not ashamed to say I support Mr Tan Kin Lian as a presidential candidate because I believed in what he stood for. And when Mr Tan posted his "misadventure" with a thermometer app, I did shake my head in disbelief that he did that. Source:   http://www.mrbrown.com/blog/2013/07/we-could-have-had-him-for-president.html Thinking twice, there could be a possibility that Mr Tan misunderstood how this app work. Most  thermometer app take data from various weather stations to display the temperature on it. Yes, the technology savvy will do a #facepalm when they read the post and mrbrown's post demonstrated it perfectly. Wrote mrbrown , "Maybe the former Presidential-hopeful didn't realize he needed to upgrade to the Pro version of the app. Then his iPhone would not only measure temperature, it would also measure current PSI (PM2.5 included), tell you if you are having your period, and cook instant noodles. Good thing he didn't try to measure boil

How UOB's Paper Trail Amplifies IT Greatest Security Threat

UOB required you to do everything on paper. If you want to change your mobile number for your banking account with them or for your credit card, you need to fill up a form. Yet, this paper trail represented a potential security fail for the bank - Human Error. So a bitcoin expert walked into UOB to open a bank account. The bank employee had to print a form from a online pdf document to fill in this bitcoin expert's particulars. When it came to entering the bitcoin expert's email, that's when the forgotten art of handwriting was the most obvious of the digital generation. Wrote Robert Capodieci, My name is Roberto Capodieci, as most of you know. and my email address is very obvious to decode. It is not a p4l_l337_s0u1@gmail.com, but it is a more obvious roberto@capodieci.com, thing that, right after reading my name in the same form, should come out easy. Still, a data entry personnel of the UOB bank (or of a service provider the UOB bank uses) entered it as roberto

NEL Train Fault Shouts Lack Of Crisis Communication

The North-East Line train fault of 11 April 2018 was my virgin experience of a rush hour train fault since I moved to Punggol. One would have thought that with the number of train faults experienced by the North-East Line operator, SBS Transit, they would have improved the communications and handling of train faults. However, my personal experience told another story. First, there were no announcements at the Punggol LRT stations of the train fault even though SBS Transit manages them. The train fault was reported as early as 7.10am as I had a friend who was also stuck in the train. I boarded the LRT at Coral Edge around 7.30am and I didn't hear of any announcement nor was there any signage to inform me o the train fault at Punggol Station. Second, the announcement kept saying that there would be a 15 minutes delay, but 15 minutes passed and the trains, on both side, wasn't moving. If the announcement would be more frank to say it will be a longer delay, commuters would
